Flight Requirements


To ensure your gear arrives safely‚ please follow these essential guidelines:

  • Pre-approval - You must notify us at least 7 days before your flight at: bookings@BlueBirdair.com. Please download and complete our Special Items & Sports Equipment Form including the type of gear and its dimensions.

    Note: Without pre-approval‚ we reserve the right to refuse the equipment at check-in without legal or financial liability.

  • Payment- Fees are based on the rates listed below. Gear not specifically listed will be charged at standard excess weight rates.

    Note: If our check-in team finds your gear exceeds the booked category‚ you will be charged based on the actual weight and dimensions.

  • Insurance: You must insure your equipment for its full value. Bluebird Airways is not liable for damage or loss.

    All sports gear is accepted under a "Limited Release of Liability" tag‚ which you will be asked to sign at check-in.

  • Packaging - Equipment must be packed in a Hard Shell casespecifically designed for transport.
    • Packaging must protect the item and prevent damage to other baggage.
    • Ensure all zippers are padlocked.
    • Bikes: Use a dedicated bike bag‚ turn handlebars inward‚ deflate tires‚ and remove pedals.
    • Diving Gear: You must demonstrate at check-in that oxygen tanks are completely empty by leaving the valve open during flight.

Sports Equipment Rates

Rates are determined by weight and/or length (whichever is stricter) and divided into 3 categories:

Camping gear

 

one tent‚ two sleeping bags‚ and accessories (stoves‚ gas canisters‚ or liquid fuel are not allowed)

Mountaineering equipment

 

one backpack‚ one ice axe‚ one pair of crampons

Golf

 

golf bag with a set of clubs‚ balls‚ tees‚ and one pair of golf shoes

Diving equipment

 

mask‚ snorkel‚ fins‚ wetsuit‚ BCD‚ regulator‚ empty cylinder‚ flashlight (off‚ battery packed separately and protected from short circuit)

Ski / snowboard

 

one pair of skis or one board‚ one pair of poles‚ boots‚ and helmet

Tennis / squash / badminton

 

set of rackets and balls packed in one bag

Bicycles

 

standard bicycles (no motor‚ not electric) or dedicated child bike trailer

Surfboard / kiteboard / wakeboard

 

up to 2 m

Hang glider

 

packed in one case

kayak

 

without a motor

Windsurfing equipment

 

one board‚ sail‚ fin‚ mast‚ and equipment bag
